M's First Book

This past weekend, M's friend came over and the two of them decided to make some pictures with stickers. They each made one, and then her friend went home. M ended up spending several more hours throughout the weekend working on her pictures all by herself. After a while, she told me she was making a book.

She pulled out lots of different sticker sets and markers and crayons. And she occasionally asked how to spell certain words, but most of the time I told her to spell it how it sounds. I figured that's what they will do in kindergarten next year, so she might as well get started with that approach.

In the end, she was very proud of her book and asked me to staple it all together. Then she wanted to read it to everyone. Here it is, (with a translation after each page).

I went to the park.
(I'm pretty sure C had some input on this one judging by the edits.)

Lizzie is having a great time at the fair.

Sun Bees Are Trees.

The sunny day is fun families.

The fair is fun.

Wait and see. The end.

I just realized I missed this page, which has great spelling on it:
Tinkerbell is having a great time.

Obviously, the sentences don't make sense and it's not really a story with a beginning, middle and end. But I was so amazed at her dedication to this project, her creativity and her desire to write words and start to form sentences. This is honestly something we have not worked on at home, and I don't think she's doing these things at school. So I'm not really sure where the idea came from, but I'm excited to see what she does next!
