Afterschool Blog Hop

Welcome back to the Afterschool Blog Hop. This week it's being hosted by Mama Smiles. I have been very quiet here at Just Playin' Around lately. But I do plan to get back into the swing of blogging within the next few weeks. I just need to get my groove on again! Since it's been so long, and most of our time away was spent on vacation, not in school, this will be a different update than usual.

The kids both had almost two weeks of vacation for the holidays. Actually, C had a lot more off than M, since her daycare was actually open a few days that we didn't send her. But they basically were off school from December 22nd through January 3rd. For the first several days, my dad and brother were visiting, and we were celebrating Christmas, so we were very busy. Then we had a couple days free before getting on the road to Ocean City, MD, for a New Year's get together with friends.

Along the way, we learned lots of new things, like how to play new board games (Angry Birds, I Spy Eagle Eye, Blokus) and video games (Civilization V, Just Dance 3, Skylanders). C is also learning a lot about ancient civilizations through playing Civilization V and reading through the game book that Santa left for him. He also has been learning more about circuits as he uses his new Snap Circuits set. M has been busy reading her new Elephant and Piggie and Fly Guy books. She also has been playing pretend with her friends a lot since Santa left her some fun new Barbie toys.
