I decided to put together some goals for the year, something I don't usually do. I just thought it would be good to have some things to refer back to as the year goes on. So, here are a few things I'd like to accomplish this year.
1. Eat healthier all year long. Right now I'm on a bit of a diet. I'm just watching what I eat and counting calories using MyFitnessPal. I'd like to continue to eat healthy all year long, even once I've hit my goal weight. It seems I end up losing motivation at certain times of the year and just start eating whatever I feel like at the time. I don't want to do that at all this year.
2. Visit a museum, zoo or other cultural location once a month. We've really gotten away from this sort of thing and I'd like to get back to it. We have a membership to a great museum, but we only go a few times a year. The kids love it, and we have fun too, so I'm determined to do more of this.
3. Reorganize my home office. Last year, I managed to completely reorganize the playroom, and while it's still often a mess, at least everything has a place so it can be cleaned up easily. My office is a complete mess and I'm determined to get it into shape this year.
4. Learn about new topics. I am hosting a nonfiction reading challenge on My Book Retreat, mostly because I'm eager to learn some new things. I don't have any specific topics in mind, although I do want to read up on some areas related to work. But mostly I want to learn in general so this is my year to do so.
5. Find some form of exercise that engages me. I'm not one to exercise. There have been times when I've been able to get onto a routine of exercising a couple times a week, but this doesn't usually last long. In 2011, I joined a gym figuring that paying for it would motivate me. It didn't so I'm cancelling the membership. I need to come up with a plan where I can use our treadmill and Exercise TV On Demand to get into some sort of exercise routine this year.
I think that's it for 2012. I believe these are goals that are doable so hopefully I'll be able to report back at the end of the year saying that I was able to achieve all of them. What about you? Did you make any goals for the year?
For me swimming works for exercise, that and dance videos.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great list. I gave up on exercise - my new goal is to get out of the house with daughter 3 times a week. Otherwise, I am just striving for balance :)
ReplyDeleteI always find it fun to read other people's goals for the New Year. Mine is the same as last year: find a primary care physician. Isn't that sad? It's even sadder that I didn't even do it when it was my goal for 2011!!
